You will find yourself on the tracks of the beavers on the approximately 2.6 km long beaver nature trail around the Gartow Castle. Their tracks are visible everywhere and with a bit of luck you might even get to see some beavers. Apart from that, the trail provides exciting information about the beaver and its habits and many other animals can be observed. Come along, the beaver trail is a beautiful excursion for young and old!
The boulder park Clenzer Schweiz with a forest nature trail and nature adventure area for children is a highlight for everyone. Embedded in idyllic nature, you can not only admire the big boulders from close up on the 270m long circular path all year round, but also learn a lot about their origin and their current use as well as about over 4.5 billion years of earth and cultural history.
The so-called 'Waldbaden' (Shinrin-yoku) is a Japanese nature-orientated method for relaxation and stress reduction. It is a guided immersion in nature, in which you consciously breathe in the healing air and experience nature. Heike Bartels offers this mindful being in the forest in the Wendland. You can expect a balanced mix of silence and conversation, leisure and impulses to approach the body in a holistic way.
A visit to Michaelshof Sammatz has a lot in store for you. In the gardens many botanical specialities are waiting to be explored by you. Varios events such as open-air concerts, adventure days and seminars related to nature attract young and old throughout the year. And that's not all: as an Ark Farm, Michaelshof Sammatz is home to cattle, goats, donkeys and many other old breeds of animals. These are kept here in a species-appropriate way and are looking forward to your visit. Your culinary well-being is of course also taken care of at Michaelshof Sammatz. In the farmer's shop you can buy fresh bread, dairy products, vegetables and meat specialities from the region and the café offers you a large selection of delicious food and drinks.
The element water fascinates both young and old. In the water adventure park you are on the track of water and can learn a lot of exciting facts - without missing out on fun and experience. The pirate ship is just one of the many highlights waiting to be explored by you.
Sixteen sculptures by international artists are waiting to be discovered during an excursion into the unique meadow landscape of the Seegeniederungen!
The sky over Wendland is darker than anywhere else in Germany and a true paradise to watch the stars! On the Stargazing Walks of the Naturum Göhrde, the Naturum employee Michail Schütte guides you regularly through the Göhrde Valley and explains the seasonal constellations and the course of the planets. A window into the past -- Looking back through history as Höhbeck changes over time! Learn about the interesting and exciting cultural history and the ecological significance of Höhbeck. And the best part is that you’re part of it all!
Baroque isn’t just about powdered wigs and ornate furniture -- far from it! The Baroque Garden in Künsche demonstrates the finest in garden symmetry. Stroll through the perennial garden, listen to the pleasant splashes from the fountain garden, or let your appetite be your guide in the vegetable garden -- every garden lover will find a favorite place here!
Visit Werner Meinecke, a shepherd, and 300 moorland sheep. Shadow the shepherd and get to know his sheep and his herding dogs in the Nemitz Heath! To find the wonders Nature has to offer, visit the Biosphärium Elbtalaue Information Center. There’s something for everyone here, no matter if you’re old or young, in a group or all alone: tours through fields and meadows, cozy evenings on the banks of the Elbe river, the marvels in the Elbe aquarium, and an interactive exhibit in the information center for the Elbe Riverscape Biosphere Reserve of Lower Saxony. It’s never boring!
The Höhbeck Center for Landscape Conservation and Biodiversity develops, tests, establishes economically sustainable landscape concepts and works closely with NABU Hamburg. And the center offers much more. Get off your riding lawn mower and try out a scythe!
Would you like to meet Bruno, Lady, Cindy, and Jessy? The gelding and the mares love visitors. Get to know the donkeys and fall in love with them. The world’s greatest happiness is not to be found only on horseback: With their stubborn, but affectionate personalities, donkeys are also delightful. Try it out!

The “Fire, Heath -- New Life” exhibit at the House in the Nemitz Heath clearly illustrates how the landscape, with its characteristic dunes, was formed thousands of years ago during the Ice Age and, remarkably, how the Nemitz Heath was a result of a catastrophic forest fire in 1975.
