Water shapes entire landscapes, and not only coastlines, beaches and ocean views. It has done lots of work in the Wendland region, too. The Elbe river brings its entire biosphere along on its journey through the Wendland. Not only the flora and fauna benefit, but you too! Here you can really live it up or turn inward and reflect. Fire up or slow down as you discover the Elbe region. Or see if you can find the beavers at Lake Gartow. Water brings an energy to the Wendland landscape that you just shouldn’t miss.
On the Jeetzel you can discover the flora and fauna of the Wendland from the water! The natural Jeetzel river rises in the Altmark in Saxony-Anhalt, meanders through Wendland and flows into the Elbe at Hitzacker (Elbe). It is an idyllic little river with overgrown banks and is therefore particularly suitable for canoeing.
