For me, Wendland is a "land of longing"; in 2011 it lured me with its beautiful half-timbered houses, the wide sky, the impressive rundling villages, the cultural offers, the wonderful landscape and last but not least with the people living here. It forms a successful contrast to the big city; instead of density, fast-living, noise and crowds one finds here vastness, silence, star constellations, bird chirping - an ideal environment to pause for a moment.

Sometimes I just stop and think, “Man, is it beautiful here!” I’ve been in Wendland since 2014. In my workshop I develop products that are then sent back into the city. It’s super that more and more young people are finding their way here, people I find incredibly interesting to work and spend time with.

Sometimes they irritate me, but then again I could just hug them for their pig-headedness. I enjoy the privilege of doing my thing in peace and serenity. I came to Gartow for the first time in 1989 and immediately fell in love with this natural paradise. The Elbe river valley with the mighty oaks carrying the weight of history drew me in right away. In 1991 I moved to Wendland and I give thanks every day for this part of the world and for the wonderful people around me, whose relaxed way of living reminds me of my home in France. Now, for more than 25 years I have been happy to show our guests how I love the Wendland region.

During my studies in Lüneburg I already discovered the beautiful Wendland with its diverse people, its special history and its free spirit. To return here now - over twenty years later and hopefully for good this time - is to a creative person like myself as if I was coming home . In return, I hope to enrich the region permanently: with the revival of the village pub in Jabel and with a variety of cultural events.
